The new Kid on the block, OnePlus 6 comes with all bells and whistles, a Glass Back, Notched 6.3-inch Display, 19:9 aspect ratio, improved sensor, QUALCOMM’s New 845 processor. So, does that makes any, One Plus 5T owners gripe about, that they should have waited for? Not really,
I am a One plus 5T owner myself, after seeing the specs and design, I was not super excited to think that I should upgrade. Following are the reasons why,
If you are not a fan of the Notch design, One Plus 6, gives you an option to hid the notch via software!
The Display & Design
Is there a drastic difference? not really! the 5T comes with 6.01 inch and the version 6 has 6.28”, will I need a 0.27inch difference, Nah! And that impacts the aspect ratio difference 18:9 to 19:9. This is not a selling factor for me as a proud 5T user. And, to me I prefer the 18:9, which looks far better than the notched design just as similar to iPhone X, but One Plus design team have excelled even though they copied, via software you can hide the notch you are seeing by selecting Hide the Notch area, that’s commendable.
The Glass back, am certainly not a fan of it, but if you are the Avengers fan like me, will certainly make you feel bad, because the AVENGERS EDITION in Carbon design with Gold accents looks crazy good looking and as icing on the top it comes with the beautiful, rugged IRON MAN Case, I bought the 5T Star wars special edition myself, so If there is one thing that I miss in this edition is this avengers edition design and Iron man cover, I tried in the website it is available for 1490 INR, yet it won’t fit in my phone as the new design has repositioned the camera sensors similar to iPhone X, so, I hate you One plus.
The Processor & Sony Sensor
OnePlus 6 runs on Qualcomm snapdragon 845 processor, while 5T runs on Snapdragon 835 SoC. I don’t think it will make any difference in the real time. May be not that noticeable in your everyday usage. And there is no difference in the megapixel count, it’s the same and the new edition sports an improved Sony sensor than the 5T.
What the new edition Misses? The Wireless charging may be, which can turn out to be a selling point for many and even to me. But yes, the proprietary Dash charger is the best, and in 10 -15 min, I get my charging done.
Battery & Storage
The capacity stays the same 3300 mAh. We have to wait and see, how the new processor holds with this battery capacity. And, again the inbuilt storage stays the same too it has the 64 GB and 128 GB variants, and there is no micro SD card support as before. And who needs the micro SD when you have enough storage, I don’t need for sure.
Ram & Operating System
It’s the same RAM options like the 5T and the both versions run on Android Oreo 8.1 based oxygen OS.
We 5T users doesn’t need to worry much like the OnePlus 5 Users, when the 5T was rolled out, as the tech specs are very similar, there is nothing to gripe much about the 5T purchase. Still, OnePlus you guys rock!
